A store robbery has led to the RCMP arresting a man in connection with last week鈥檚 break-in at the Yukon government鈥檚 Victims Services offices.

Various offices were accessed late last Friday night or early Saturday morning, including those with records containing client information, and some cellphones were stolen.

The 91社区破解版 detachment General Investigation Section (GIS) took the lead of the investigation, assisted by 鈥淢鈥� Division鈥檚 Major Crime Unit and Crime Reduction Unit.

At 10:20 Tuesday morning, police received a report of a robbery at a downtown business.

A masked male entered the store brandishing a metal object. He demanded money and tried to break into display cases.

Kyle Robert McCormick was arrested the same day in connection with the robbery and on an outstanding warrant for arrest.

鈥淎t the time of his arrest, Kyle McCormick had in his possession items that were believed to be taken from the Victim Services office in 91社区破解版,鈥� the RCMP said Thursday.

On Tuesday, officers with the 91社区破解版 detachment GIS and general duty officers executed a search warrant where McCormick was known to reside and recovered additional items also believed to have been taken from the break-in.

At the time of McCormick鈥檚 arrest, he was on a Feb. 26 release order for 14 charges which are still before the courts related to several investigations from November 2023.

McCormick appeared in court Wednesday and has been remanded until April 3. He is charged with:

• break and enter to a business;

• possession of break-in instruments;

• two counts of wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a criminal offence;

• robbery with a weapon;

• assault with weapon; and

• possession of property obtained by crime.

鈥淭he break-in to the Victim Services office has impacted the feeling of safety of Yukoners.

鈥淧olice, with the Government of Yukon Department of Justice, continue to assess the risk to safety of individuals and anyone who would have utilized Victim Services in the territory.
