At this rate, Air North captain Iain Breckenridge may well become known as the greatest clutch penalty kicker in Over-35 Men鈥檚 league history.

Breckenridge scored on two more penalty kicks in an Over-35 Men鈥檚 soccer league final that came down to the wire, after burying two spot kicks last week.

The highly-entertaining clash between Air North (blue) and the Pepsi (Red) squad played out at the Canada Games Centre in 91社区破解版 Saturday.

The scoring started early when Breckenridge scored on a penalty kick (after a handball in the box) a few minutes into the game to put the Blues up 1-0. However, he wasn鈥檛 done yet, as there were more heroics to come from the tall, lanky Air North skipper later in the game.

Pepsi scoring star Frankin Fru scored on a point-blank chance on Blue keeper Sean Macdonald to pull Pepsi even with about 12 minutes left in the first half.

John Hawkins added another goal for Pepsi with about four minutes left in the half to put the Reds up 2-1.

The half ended without more scoring, making it 2-1 Pepsi at the half.

Alejandro Pulido pulled Air North even with nine minutes left in the second half.

Fru scored again to pull Pepsi ahead once again, 3-2, with about seven minutes left, drilling the ball through Macdonald, who couldn鈥檛 stop it despite getting two hands on the powerful shot.

Blues鈥� Carlos Astorquiza tied it up on a rebound with a little over six minutes left in the second half.

The teams couldn鈥檛 come up with another goal in the second half, resulting in a five-minute 鈥済olden goal鈥� overtime.

Fru got elbowed in the face, forcing him to go to the bench with a bloody nose with 3:39 left in the extra frame.

Nothing was solved in overtime, sending the league鈥檚 deciding game to a shootout.

Hawkins, Fru and Adil Khalik were chosen to shoot for Red.

Justin Carre, Pulido and of course Breckenridge would shoot for the Blues.

Hawkins had first kick at the cat for Pepsi against Macdonald, who was encouraged by his teammates before the penalty kicks. That seemed to help, as Macdonald stopped Hawkins cold.

Breckenridge, naturally, nailed his penalty kick to put Air North up 1-0 on penalties.

Fru was then stopped point-blank by Macdonald, leaving Carre to play the hero.

He buried the ball for the victory for Air North, putting them up 2-0 in the shootout and rendering Pepsi鈥檚 third kick meaningless.

A very excited Macdonald was asked about his spectacular saves in the shootout.

鈥淚 sort of premeditated on the first one. I was thinking about John (Hawkins). He scored on me last time, so (I thought) 鈥業鈥檓 just gonna edge over here a little bit.鈥�

鈥淏ut it鈥檚 mostly reactive. If it鈥檚 perfect, you can鈥檛 save it. If it鈥檚 within your reach, it鈥檚 not the worst penalty of all time to try to save. You get lucky a little bit, too.鈥�

As for how it felt to make the final save, Macdonald replied, 鈥淕reat.

鈥淕ood on Red, too. They had a great season, good tournament, but I felt Blue was peaking at the right time. So it鈥檚 nice to close it out that way.鈥�

Breckenridge said, 鈥淲e were the underdogs there, in all honesty. I鈥檓 not sure many would have given us much of a hope but all season, the team talk was pretty much 鈥榬espect our game plan, defend hard, work hard, support each other, play as strong a game as we can鈥�. If we worked harder than the other team, then the result will take care of itself.鈥�

Breckenridge said the Reds worked just as hard.

鈥淗ats off to them as well.鈥�

Breckenridge commented on the game going to penalties again.

鈥淚 was thinking, 鈥楢re we going to get away with it again?鈥� We just managed to take our chance when it came and here we are. I can鈥檛 quite believe it but we鈥檝e enjoyed the game, enjoyed the season.

鈥淗ats off to all the teams. We鈥檝e all enjoyed our Saturday mornings and it鈥檚 one big club as far as I鈥檓 concerned now.鈥�

Of his penalty kick, Breckenridge said, 鈥淚 stuck to my game plan again, I got the ball, took a breath, put it in the spot and thankfully it went in.

鈥淚鈥檝e never taken so many penalties in my life. People are gonna start thinking, 鈥榃ow, he can actually take a penalty.鈥欌��

As for when Carre finished the game, Breckenridge said, 鈥淵ou鈥檝e got to be careful not to get ahead of yourself in those situations. I just said to the boys, 鈥淧ut your mind in neutral. Don鈥檛 think about much until the game鈥檚 over.

鈥淎ny of the boys could have taken the penalty. They all worked hard.

鈥淛ustin took it cleanly.鈥�

Breckenridge added, 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a great season.鈥�

The new Over-35 Men鈥檚 鈥淜ing of the Penalty Kicks鈥� has now won four championships in a row.
